Comprehensive Benefit Package


The Commercial Sales position will sell Bay West's Industrial and Environmental Consulting services offered by the company to current and prospective commercial clients as well as local, state and municipal clients in the environmental consulting and industrial services markets.  This position will report to Bay West's Director of Commercial Programs.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Assists in development of, and supports strategies related to, the Bay West Commercial Business Development Plan, as prioritized by the Director of Commercial Programs.
  • Identifies and locates new clients through a variety of methods including networking, covering tradeshows and industry events, and following up on leads.
  • Develops and implements strategies for sales in industrial services, waste disposal, compliance and environmental consulting.
  • Represents company at industry conferences and events.
  • Applies field and technical experience to match the needs of clients.
  • Answers inquiries from clients concerning Bay West service lines and supports proposal efforts.
  • Provides information, cost proposals, contract terms, and other bid specifications to clients.
  • Collaborates with team leader and other staff to confirm that proposals and projects are executed with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Tracks sales and project opportunities in CRM.
  • Periodically prepares relevant reports on sales-related results, status of accounts, and leads to team leader.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid understanding of technical services to be sold.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Metrics:

Success in the role will be measured by:

  • Revenue from commercial, state and municipal clients;
  • Contribution towards sales growth;
  • Project margin percentages of developed opportunities;
  • Expansion of existing markets and client sales; and
  • New market penetration / market share.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Geology, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Previous experience in Industrial Services or Environmental Consulting preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of sales experience in the business-to-business or business-to-government services industry.

Other Requirements:

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification and current 8-hour refresher preferred, not required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to travel to meet with clients or potential clients including occasional multi-day trips for conferences, out-of-state client meetings, and other events.
