Bay West LLC, is an environmental and industrial services company with 40 years of experience providing environmental solutions to federal, state, local and the private sector.  Currently Bay West is seeking an Environmental Data Coordinator to join its team.

 The Environmental Data Coordinator will be the liason between the project manager, field staff, and lab.  The data coordinator will play an integral role in Bay West's commercial project work flow starting from the kickoff of each project and ending with client data deliverables.  The data coordinator will facilitate data collection by working directly with laboratories, setting up data collection forms, and supporting field staff in data collection efforts, and managing chemistry data. This position will support Bay West's Project Managers, Chemistry Staff, GIS Staff, Project Staff, Field Staff, Database Administrators, and the Laboratory Subcontractors.


Duties include:

  • Develop and implement a company-wide system to request, track, collect, manage, and report chemical data for Bay West projects.
  • Implement, maintain, develop, and support the Bay West enterprise level chemical data quality system (EQuIS) at the project level for both commercial and government contracts.
  • Implement and support the EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE) by acting as the sample data coordinator, working with Project Managers to setup field sampling projects.
  • "Hands on" role with initial database setup for each project to meet data deliverable and review requirements using the EQuIS and EDGE systems. This includes, though not limited to, upload of specific project, sample, QC, and analytical/method information during the planning phase.
  • Coordinate with Project Staff and subcontractors to produce Chain of Custody (CoCs) and sample container labels, and order sample glassware.
  • Track progress of sample analysis and communicate status to Project Staff.
  • Coordinate with subcontracted laboratories with login, troubleshooting, compliance with quality requirements for the upload of data using the EQuIS electronic data processor (EDP).
  • Maintain and update changes of project information and action levels.
  • Enter applicable field data into EDGE or develop electronic data collection forms that integrate EDGE data inputs to facilitate the generation of EDGE electronic data deliverables (EDDs).
  • Manage and upload EDGE EDDs.
  • Produce report deliverable data tables and author sections of reports related to chemical data.
  • Support planning through development of data management procedures.
  • Collaborate with multiple groups, including Project Managers, Project Staff, GIS staff, and Chemistry staff to develop creative project approaches and achieve project goals.



  • BS/BA in Environmental/Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience in an environmental-related field with relevant experience with environmental sampling and interacting with chemistry data and database information systems.
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of chemical data and environmental data quality information systems. Working knowledge of EQuIS and/or EDGE software is preferred.
  • Understanding of environmental regulatory agencies and frameworks.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Ability to work with data in SQL and Microsoft Access.
  • Understanding of environmental analytical methods and data relationships such as field QC samples, significant figures, validation, qualifiers, multiple runs, etc.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Project Team in the delivery of database solutions to challenging technical projects. Responsiveness to co-workers and good communication skills are essential.

  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently, as well as a team-player.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Possesses analytical problem solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Limited overnight travel to conferences, satellite offices, project locations, and client locations may be required.
