Due to continued growth, Bay West is seeking a hardworking safety-conscious Industrial Environmental Field Technician/Laborer.  This position will be trained and mentored by a highly respected, tenured Site Supervisor/Environmental Field Technician giving you the opportunity to learn from the best!  

Job Summary: 

Industrial Environmental Technician/Laborer will work on-site at project/client facilities performing a range of tasks required for environmental cleanup and industrial service operations consisting but not limited to tank cleaning, waste bulking, clean room activities, pressure washing contaminated surfaces, hazmat cleaning, and/or demolition service in accordance with established company policies and procedures.  The environment tends to be dusty, dirty and noisy and may contain hazardous or potentially hazardous substances/materials. 

Ideal candidate must be able to perform the following responsibilities: 

  • Operate and troubleshoot routinely used tools and equipment.
  • Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up.
  • Develop summaries, generate photographic logs, and input field work documentation.
  • Actively participate on the Emergency Response (ER) team - one week of being on-call 24/7 every five weeks.    

Requirements: 

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and physical exam.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work while wearing Level A, B, and C Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes a full-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) along with Tyvek and Saranex suits. 
  • Routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Previous general labor working experience.
  • Able to work at elevated heights, in permit required confined spaces and various hazardous industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Position does require working evenings, weekends and out of town when necessary. 

Preferred Skills/Certifications: 

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification and/or up to date on 8-hour refresher preferred, not required. If you do not currently have the OSHA HAZWOPER Certification Bay West will cover the cost for the chosen candidate.
  • Class B CDL with Hazardous Material Endorsement or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Previous experience and chemical safety knowledge of cleaning chemicals, detergents, flammable solvents, acids and bases as well as other hazardous substances and wastes.
  • Previous experience operating equipment.
