Comprehensive Benefits Package


Oversee the successful operation, growth, and delivery of Bay West services for Industrial service lines (ie: industrial cleaning, decontamination, decommissioning, etc.) and/or market sectors.  This includes technical expertise, business development, staff management and administrative support for service lines and project management activities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Find and identify the appropriate opportunities for Bay West to pursue. 
  • Aggressively seek new client opportunities and service line expansion.
  • Effectively lead efforts to develop teams to respond to opportunities (both as a prime and as a team member).

 Actively build and maintain Bay West's network in the marketplace.

  •  Serve as a leader in Bay West's marketing strategy. Provide accurate market trend analysis, assess current market conditions, offer useful sales and marketing strategies, and provide practical suggestions for implementing and improving, extending, and or adding to Bay West service lines.
  • Presenting Bay West in a manner consistent with corporate message of "customer intimacy" and "best value", and "standing behind our work" to existing and potential customers.
  • Successfully develop quality relationships with customers adhering to Bay West core values and Way of Being, retaining current customers, acquiring new customers, and obtaining feedback on Bay West's performance.

Effectively communicate market feedback to ensure information on trends and conditions is received in a timely manner for support of planning & decision-making process.

  •  Productively participate by providing input during the drafting of the Sales and Marketing plan and by assisting with the implementation of the Sales and Marketing plan.
  •  Comply and adhere to all safety, employee, HR policies, and procedures and practices. 
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve service line and company goals. 
  • Provide effective leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills. 

 

Technical Expertise

Directly responsible for providing overall planning, organization, delivery of services, and execution of projects to include forecasting, setting objectives, anticipating changes, securing and budgeting resources, structuring tasks, establishing priorities and timelines, and preparing for future opportunities.   

  • Previous experience managing, bidding and supervising industrial cleaning, decommissioning and decontamination projects at manufacturing and industrial facilities. 
  • Previous experience and chemical safety knowledge of cleaning chemicals, detergents, flammable solvents, acids, bases, and oxidizers as well as other hazardous substances and hazardous wastes highly recommended. 
  • Work out "winning" competitive bid strategies by developing job-specific profit and overhead mark-ups, assumptions in methods and production rates, risks associated with assumptions and contract conditions, identifying all health, safety and environmental concerns, and making clear-cut "bid/no-bid" recommendations. 
  • Lead the development of technical solutions and cost estimates in response to customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Assisting other teams and team members in preparing estimates/proposals. 
  • Accurately prepare project plans, proposals, feasibility studies, designs, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for various projects and business development/marketing efforts. 
  • Accurately develop "scopes of work" from bid documents, soliciting bids from subcontractors. 
  • Manage select projects in a professional and appropriate manner to ensure standard operating procedures are followed and profit goals are met or exceeded. Assure the delivery/execution of all assigned services and projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with project and contract documents. 
  • Effectively transition awarded projects to other Bay West project managers to ensure all client's and company's needs are being met or exceeded. Estimate and effectively negotiate change orders for on-going projects. 
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills. Assist on-site project managers, field technicians, and technical professionals with general environmental consulting and industrial service guidance. 
  • Guide or manage problem situations to reduce overall risk or loss to stakeholders. Devise and execute contingency plans as needed. Identify potential causes, troubleshoot, communicate with stakeholders, and initiate post-mortem analysis to identify/implement process/system improvements. 
  • Understand and comply with Bay West's corporate and project specific health & safety plans. 
  • Complete essential paperwork including time cards, utilization and daily reports in a timely and proper manner. 
  • Oversee and direct the utilization of asset management program to ensure proper check-out and check-in of equipment and supplies on a consistent basis. 
  • Be part of an Emergency Response Team (1 week of being on-call 24/7 every 5 weeks). 

People Management:

  • Manage the service area team in a manner which maximizes individual/team capability and productivity. 
  • Promote regular open communication with all staff by listening to others ideas and being open to feed forward and feedback. 
  • Assist in selection/hiring of staff with Human Resource personnel and facilitate full and complete orientation and induction into Bay West, including proper completion of paperwork and follow-up with new hire resources and training needs. 
  • Schedule staff resources; delegate, direct, and coordinate team/individual activities to complete tasks/projects and achieve objectives while utilizing internal and external resources effectively. Effectively manage team to minimize indirect, non-billable time. 
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Bay West policy, practices and Way of Being; Federal and State employment laws including AA/EEO equal opportunity policies and procedures. 

Client Relations: 

  • Directly responsible for maintaining and developing productive client relationships. 
  • Create and maintain strategic alliances with key subcontractors, researching competition and market pricing, and regularly informing senior management of potential bid opportunities and status. 
  • Prepare and present internal and external technical presentations, brown bags, and facilitate presentations with customers, as necessary. 
  • Communicate effectively with external clients, both orally and in writing, in a courteous and professional manner on all project issues. (This will be measured by feedback received from clients during customer satisfaction calls completed by the Vice President of Sales/Marketing.) 
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers, both orally and in writing, in a courteous and professional manner on all project issues. (This will be measured by feedback received from customers during customer satisfaction calls completed by the Vice President of Operations.) 
  • Present Bay West service lines to our clients in a manner consistent with the corporate message of "customer intimacy, best value, and standing behind our work" to existing and potential customers.

 Essential education, training, knowledge & experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience managing industrial service, waste management or construction projects.

  • Experience executing T&M and Fixed Price Performance-Based projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with clients and subcontractors, and vendors.
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet usage, and estimating software.

 Essential physical & intellectual requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, OSHA, DOT.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple projects with multiple sub-tasks simultaneously on a daily basis.
  • Occasional walking for periods of two (2) to four (4) hours.
